While other cities around the world celebrate the stories told, the lives lived and the moments shared on benches, we hope to increase the number of benches in our city, so that someday, we too can tell the stories that have unfolded upon them.

Sometimes you don’t need a restaurant or coffee shop, you just need a bench.

And so we invite you, the community, to contribute and join in the conversation by sharing bench related photos, images stories and thoughts that inspire you!

Home-made bench – Ola Dajani

“I actually didn’t find a bench, I made a bench!

It all started a few months back when I had an idea of making a bench that epitomises the city I love and live in, Dubai. I wanted to make a piece that captured the city’s many, and often contrasting, facets and its nuances – such contrast that exists no where else, and the reason why I love Dubai. So I used rough material (plumbing pipes) to construct the base of the bench, and more refined material (leather) to make the two seats. And voila, the result is a somewhat bizarre bench which resembles a construction site – something that is still very much in the course of construction, being built from nothing, yet it appears luxurious and polished from above. If you look closer, the surface of the leather is fragmented but somehow pulls together. Does it remind you of somewhere?’

Hong Kong – Maja Kozel

‘This used to be our favourite spot in Northpoint on HK-Island, with a view over the water and Kowloon side, it was a “lost space” and a perfect place for us to unwind the crazyness of the HK city life and demanding work as Architectural Designers working minimum 12 hours a day!’

Australia – Eva Grötzinger

‘I took this image 5 years ago in Australia near Ayers Rock at the “Olgas”. I love the way this bench sits there quietly in between those majestic red rocks. Even though it’s such a touristic place, no one is visible in the picture. It’s one of those places where you just want to sit for a few hours and be for a while.’

Austin, Texas – Anjali Agarwal

‘Thought would share some of my fav bench pics!

Austin, Texas..great city, lovely weather and loads of benches.

The first 2 are outside Hula Hut, one of the best Tex Mex places in Texas.

And the last two are at a wineyard in Austin.’

Pennsylvania – Katrina Weber

‘This is my favourite bench with my favorite people on it!

My mom and dad. On a bench that is in the mountains in pennsulvania where i’m from.

Says more about my home than any structure.’

About the s*uce benches project

Every year s*uce launches an initiative that gets people thinking about the kind of love that transcends flowers, diamonds, chocolates and candy. (Though those are by all means very lovely and extremely important things).

A few years ago we thought about how Trees Need Love Too, and launched a green campaign (unleashing the tree huggers within), and last year we suggested 10 ways to Unlock Your heart.

This year, we urge you to Find a bench. Fall in love.

While other cities around the world celebrate the stories told, the lives lived and the moments shared on benches, we hope to eventually increase the number of benches in our city so that someday we too can tell the stories that have unfolded upon them.

Sometimes you don’t need a restaurant or coffee shop, you just need a bench.

And so we invite you, the community, to contribute and join in the conversation by sharing the photos, images stories and thoughts that inspire you!

Please email all your bench moments, thoughts, photos, designs and/or stories to benches@sauceloves.com and we will upload them.

We want to hear all your thoughts.  This initiative is as big as you make it!
